Why a Scholarship Deadline Calendar Matters
Here is a fact that catches most students off guard: the biggest reason talented students miss out on fully funded scholarships is not weak academics or a poor personal statement. It is simply missing the deadline. Most prestigious scholarships have a single annual deadline, and if you miss it, you wait an entire year for the next cycle.
We have compiled every major scholarship deadline from June through December 2026 into this comprehensive calendar. Bookmark this page and check back regularly. We update it as new dates are confirmed. For scholarships with deadlines earlier in 2026 that have already passed, we have noted when their next cycle opens. Browse all scholarships with live deadline tracking on ScholyHub.

July-August 2026: The Preparation Window
July and August are relatively quiet for major deadlines, which makes them the most important months of the year for scholarship preparation. If you are serious about winning a scholarship for 2027 entry, this is when you need to be doing the hard work.
What You Should Be Doing in July-August
Take your English language test. Most scholarships require IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL 90+. Results take 2-4 weeks to arrive, and you may need a retake. Book your test now. Read our IELTS vs TOEFL comparison guide.
Request recommendation letters. Contact 3-4 professors or supervisors and give them at least 6 weeks' notice. Provide them with your CV, a draft of your personal statement, and specific points you would like them to address. A rushed or generic letter can sink an otherwise strong application.
Start drafting your personal statement. The best personal statements go through 8-10 revisions. Start now, get feedback from mentors, revise, and repeat. Use our free SOP writing guide.
Research specific programmes and supervisors. For research scholarships and PhD applications, identify 3-5 potential supervisors whose work aligns with your interests. Email them a concise, well-informed message explaining your background and interest in their research. A positive response from a supervisor dramatically increases your chances.
August Deadlines
McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill (Canada): Canada's first comprehensive graduate scholarship. Up to 30 full scholarships plus 100 entrance awards. International deadline around August 19, 2026. Full tuition + living stipend + leadership development. Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program (multiple universities): Several partner universities have August deadlines for their Mastercard Foundation programmes.
